Land Registry Parcel Downloader

Instant access to registered land parcels in supported areas - no GIS software required

Introduction:

Finding out exactly which parcels of land are registered near a site used to mean digging through HM Land Registry's portal, identifying the right local authority, downloading a dataset covering an entire council area, and importing it into GIS software just to see the handful of parcels you actually needed. This tool does all of that in one click.

Plot a point on the map — or search a postcode — and instantly see every registered land parcel within your chosen radius, viewable right in your browser or downloadable as a ready-to-use file for your own GIS software.

Currently supported areas:

This tool is live for a set of trial areas, with more being added over time:

  • Bath and North East Somerset Council

  • Cheshire East Council

  • City of Westminster

  • City of York Council

  • Herefordshire Council

  • London Borough of Camden

  • London Borough of Islington

  • London Borough of Tower Hamlets

  • Maidstone Borough Council

  • Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council

  • North Lincolnshire Council

  • Nottingham City Council

  • Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council

  • Peterborough City Council

  • Plymouth City Council

  • Rushcliffe Borough Council

  • Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council

  • South Norfolk Council

  • Sunderland City Council

  • Winchester City Council

  • Worcester City Council

  • Wrexham County Borough Council

How to use this:

  1. Click a shaded area on the map, or search a postcode — green areas are ready to go instantly; red areas are supported but need one first-time load (up to a couple of minutes).

  2. View the results — registered parcel boundaries within your chosen radius (up to 5km) appear directly on the map.

  3. Download the data — click "Download GeoPackage" for a file ready to drop straight into ArcGIS, QGIS, or any other GIS software.

Why this beats the manual process:

Getting this same data the traditional way means searching HM Land Registry's INSPIRE Index Polygons service by hand, identifying the right local authority, downloading that council's entire dataset, converting the file format, and manually clipping it down to the area you actually need — several minutes of repeated manual work for a result this tool gives you in seconds.
